Rodolfo Arízaga

Rodolfo Arízaga (July 11, 1926 – 1985) was an Argentine composer.

Arízaga was born in Buenos Aires, where he studied composition at the National Conservatory under Alberto Williams, José Gil, Luis Gianneo, and Teodoro Fuchs; he also studied philosophy at the National Universeity. After touring Spain in 1950, he went to Paris in 1954 and studied under Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen. Here, he also began experimenting with the Ondes Martenot, and composed several works for the instrument. Returning to Argentina in 1960, he taught at Buenos Aires University and wrote music criticism for journals and newspapers. He died in Buenos Aires.
